Gotta Love Budgets. . .NOT

Does anyone have a budget?
OK, let me rephrase that question. . .
Does anyone have a budget that they actually look at?

MBB and I put together a budget about six months ago.
I finally got Quicken up-to-date this weekend and got a glance at our spending vs. budget.

WOW.

We missed some obvious things while we were budgeting. . .
You know those school fees, school supplies, clothes.
What, the public won't care if we have to walk around naked?

Yeah, right!
So yes, we missed some of those pesky things that are definitely needed.

My big project for December:
Doing some number crunching and getting a more realistic budget in place for us.

I Did My Part. . .

. . .To make Black Friday live up to its name!

I am a bit tired of shopping. . .
My credit card is still smoking (Never fear, it will be paid off this month). . .
The amount crossed off of my "To Buy" list is looking very good. . .

If the economy doesn't get a kick start from Black Friday, it's NOT MY FAULT!

Gobble Gobble

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out in the blog world.

MaBell, OB and I met up with MBB yesterday when he got off of work to head north.
It was a night full of haircuts, baking and just spending some time with MommyMarie.
We got to enjoy lounging around at MommyMarie's this morning instead of fighting traffic.
It was nice to break up the drive into two days.

After eating some turkey for lunch (I am proud to say I didn't blow my diet too bad), we headed south to MBB's Grandfather's 80th Surprise Birthday Party. Yes, we had a Thanksgiving meal, but it was all about the birthday. I blew the diet with some dessert, but still not too bad!

We are now home and MBB had a nice surprise for me - he got Dark Knight, which is a movie that I have been wanting to watch for awhile.

Now, I just have to decide if I'm going to participate in the Black Friday madness or not. :)

Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams of five active players each try to score points against one another by propelling a ball through a 10 feet high hoop under organized rules.

My life is now revolving around basketball. . .
Practices, Games, Tournaments, Booster Meetings. . .You name it, I'm doing it.

Unfortunately, out of all of the sports that the kids participate in. . .This is my least favorite.

Busy Day!

I took a vacation day today.
Not to relax or sleep in (though I really wanted to).
I had a list a mile long that I wanted to get done today.
I'm still trudging through the list, but have made some serious damage to it already.

  • Be a cool parent (let the kids sit in a warm car waiting on the bus). Check.
  • Search for mesh bookbags. Searching (Anyone know who has mesh bags?).
  • Buy mechanical pencils to replace the ones that ran away. Check.
  • Leg workout at the gym. Check.
  • Grocery shopping for the week. Check.
  • Dinner in the Crockpot in time to be done by dinner time. Check.
  • Clean out the refrigerator. Half Check (Someone else gets to clean out the door shelves).
  • Update Quicken. GULP. I'll get back to this one.
  • Filing. DOUBLE GULP. Yeah, right!
  • Update Blog. Check.
The list goes on, but I am pretty pleased and pretty tired. :)

It's Begining To. . .

Yep, I FINALLY started Christmas Shopping!
I'll wait while a few of you get back into your chairs.

Yes, I know that I'm usually done by now and I did have a few small things bought earlier in the year, but for the most part, I put in my first Christmas order yesterday.

With our budget, I have had to scale back a bit. . .
So, I am on the look-out for "deals" so it isn't as obvious that I had to scale back.

A challenge that I enjoy. . .When I find them, anyway. :D

Ummmmm...

I was kidnapped. . .
I fell into a deep sleep and lost a few days. . .
Aliens put a password on my computer that took me forever to decode. . .

Don't believe any of those?

Smart of you.

I've been in major "Sassy Taxi", homework-checking and test reviewing mode lately.
There hasn't been much time for blog posting.

For that, I apologize.

I will try to get better about it.
Really, I will.

Still don't believe any of those?
:)

Yum

I walked into the company cafeteria this morning and I smelled it.
Yep, there was no denying that smell.
Yep, I about had to leave because my will power was so tempted.

"For what?", you might ask.

One of these!
Yes, a Belgium Waffle.

Not one of those chinsy square things.
A big, fluffy, round Belgium Waffle.

Hours later, my mouth is still salivating just thinking about it.
The countdown is now on.
How many days until I get to eat a Belgium Waffle, I mean until the weight loss competition is over.

Not Again

My dryer decided that my clothes were too big and shrunk them for me.

OK, OK, OK. . .Perhaps my dryer is innocent and that ice cream decided to attach itself to my hips.

At any rate, my pants are a bit snug. . .
And I REFUSE to buy a bigger size!

That means: Time for a weight loss competition.
Yes, I joined one.
Yes, I have to lose 5% of my body weight in 6 weeks.

Da**, I am not liking this diet.

Wowsa!

Every time MBB and/or I go up into Ohio, we try to stop by a gas station.
Just after I moved across the river, some new taxes went into affect that made Kentucky's gas prices anywhere from $.10 to $.20 higher than Ohio's.

Yesterday, we headed farther south into Kentucky for MaBell's Basketball Scrimmage.
LOOK WHAT WE FOUND!
OK, it may still be higher than Ohio's, but it is a good $.15 lower than our county.

One Of Those Days. . .

One that about has tears in your eyes - not from emotion, but from anger and frustration?
One that seems to blow every little thing into a huge mountain?
One that takes everything you have not to rip someones head off (verbally, off course)?
Yep, one of those.

It's not a good thing when the day is initially caused by a co-worker.
It's especially not a good thing when you have a full day of meetings ending up at a football game.

The kids will most likely be off with their friends and MBB has to study, so I'll be sitting there by myself. I may take my camera so that I'm not completely bored out of my mind - not sure yet.
Great way to end the day.

UPDATE: No football for me - MBB and I ended up reviewing math with OB all evening.

Running Busy. . .

My apologies for the light posting lately. . .
I have been trying to acclimate to the new sport schedules.

I am also back on the diet full force in order to avoid buying new clothes a size larger.

The good news is that MBB helped me clear out my future craft room (Big Hugs and Kisses To My Man!) and I have a temporary set-up in place to work on some things. Not sure when I'll have the energy when I have the time, but when I do - I have a place to work on things!

500+

I was going to post a celebration post when I hit #500. . .
After all, I never thought this blog would last long - never in my wildest dreams did I think I would have enough to say to post 500 times!

You can stop laughing now.

Seriously. . .

I mean it!

Anyway. . .
Life got in the way and I forgot about my celebration and #500 past me by!
So, here is a mini-mention of post #513!
