Budget Challenge - July

Here's the results for this month in our Grocery / Supply reduction.

Budget: $400.00
Actual OOP: $528.34

Retail Price: $916.99
Coupon Savings: $129.57
Sales Savings: $259.08

This was a rough month with OB's birthday party and some other big "Run outs, must replace!".
Luckily, the ALLYou challenge was only four weeks (not six), so we didn't do as bad as I thought we did - I still have to post those weeks, but I haven't tracked down our restaurant spending yet. :(

Success!

Nickey and I finished the wedding invites.
I am VERY pleased with them! My apologies for the slightly blurry pictures. . .

This is the invitation that I kept for our scrapbook.
On the upper flap (that the RSVP card is laying on), all of the other invitations had a map printed on velum. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of someone else's and they are now all in sealed envelopes. :)

Grocery Challenge Week #4

The challenge was to spend $25 / person / week = $100 / week for us.

Week #4 Results:
Grocery - $87.19
Eating Out - $13.37
Total - $100.56

WOW - I was sooooooooooooo close this week!!!

Overall, I didn't do as well on the challenge as I thought I would. . .
Our target was $400.
Our actual was $416.02.

Not too bad, but week by week. . .Not good.

Ouch

OB had what we figured was a virus that would go away on its own (takes about six months), which is okay if it doesn't spread (Yes, we confirmed this with his doctor at his check-up). He calls them his "bumps".

Well, the bumps started to spread so I took him to a specialist to get it checked out.
End result: the doctor removed them pretty soon after we got there.
We may be back in six weeks to remove anymore that have popped up.

They Look Like Actual Pickles!

Per OB!

Since we go through a jar of stackers in about two days, we decided to turn some of our cucumbers into stackers. . .
And only one injury!

Playing? Maybe. . .

We knew that Yeager-bomb would come into contact with a lot of animals while we were on vacation. Since he doesn't have any claws, MBB decided to introduce him to some of them before we left.

Yeager-bomb wanted to "play" with Lady, but she didn't think his paw smacks were very fun.

Our garden is starting to produce cucumbers.
We also have some mini-tomatoes and very tall potato plants!

Success!

We came home from vacation to find this.

We waited one more day before picking it - I was amazed!
It looked like I bought it from the grocery store.

It was tasty too! :)

Last Day of Vacation. . .

. . .Was spent at home working on a new project.

I think we all needed our head examined as it was a pretty hot day!
But we are set to have lots more hanging vegetable baskets next year!

Grocery Challenge Week #2

I've been bad about keeping my blog updated in a timely manner. . .
With vacation and all of the projects we've been working on (who would have known that I would get busier once MBB graduated from college???), I have not had a lot of time to calculate numbers.

The challenge was to spend $25 / person / week = $100 / week for us.
This was rough this week as we were on vacation.
The eating out got us (the tax % was HUGE)!

Week #2 Results:
Grocery - $18.51
Eating Out - $119.24
Total - $137.75

Looks like we failed in Week #2. . . :(
I am still going to try to be successful the remaining weeks!

Vacation: Wonder Works

I am always happy when I can find something fun for vacation that is also educational. . .
This year - it was WonderWorks!
An added bonus - Laser Tag. Yep, I - who have never played Laser Tag before - got 3rd place (and beat MBB and MaBell)! Who cares if I played with strategy??? :)
