Michigan = Cold

Even Yeager-Bomb thinks so.

Here is his favorite place to sit (other than our laps)...

Yes, that is on top of the register vent... while the furnace is running.

I also caught him under my covers while my Bed Jet was running.
Usually, he completely buries himself under the covers until I kick him out.
But this time, he wanted to know what was going on, for some unknown reason...

Learning a New Sport...

Moving north has resulted in my learning a new sport: Pot Hole Dodging.

No lie - you may have just driven that same road five minutes ago and all was good...
But don't feel comfortable!
There may be one there now.

It could be small...
It could be big...
It could be hidden by snow...
It could be just there - daring you to drive over it...
Heck, it could even have friends that it decided to hold hands with...

Yes, I went over a strip of about seven connected side to side - there was no where to dodge!
And to make matters worst - it was at the end of an entrance ramp onto a highway...

I have been told that this is a normal occurrence here...
And it could be awhile before they go away...

My reality:  I am starting to add about ten minutes to all of my drives because of the dodging.
And I am thankful that my car is still in one piece.

Turning Lemons Into Lemonade

I am not an extreme person when it comes to weather.
I don't like it really hot and I don't like it really cold.

But what can you do when you have to move to Michigan (or the artic as MBB calls it)?

You find a way to turn lemons into lemonade.

Meet the snow penguins that my two oldest grandsons helped me make during one of the snow storms last December:

I have also enjoyed seeing how close the wildlife come up to our house.  These prints are right outside the backdoor.

Alright - I've had my lemonade... Bring on spring.

Not Wasting My Time...

And this is why I haven't memorized the colors of the balls...
I have found three different color sets, but the numbers never change!

So, I'll just keep looking at the numbers!

#Owningmyweakness

I am the first to admit that I don't like driving our truck.

It is MBB's truck.  The Camry belongs to me.
Yep, sounds right to me.

Every 5K miles, I have to drive the big monstrosity so that it can get checked out.
But the problem is, I have to park it at the Big T for the morning, before it goes for its appointment in the afternoon.

Have I have mentioned that I don't like driving our truck?

So, I found a parking spot that allowed me to back straight up (into another row) without having to worry about cutting it too sharp or swinging the front too quick, etc, etc, etc.

I don't want to have to tell MBB that I wreaked his baby...
So, I planned ahead and parked accordingly.

Helped me get a few extra steps too!  :)

It's Mine!

And speaking of cute (talking about yesterday's post), Yeager-bomb is full of cute-ness these days.

Zilla got a seat that pulls out into a small bed/lounger for Christmas.  Not going to be pretty when Zilla and Yeager-bomb decide to have it out on who Elmo really belongs to...

Sorry, Yeager-bomb... I think that Zilla is going to win!

This picture is not a one-time deal.  I find him sitting here more often than I don't.

Hiding

When I was pulling the Christmas presents out from under the tree, Mr. Yeager-bomb high-tailed it to claim a spot.
With all of the lights (yes, even on a pre-lit tree!), it was hard to get a good picture of him, but he is there under the second step, behind the present wrapped in red.
And, yes... I know that my Christmas Tree is down and the Holidays are over...
But I just saw the picture on my computer and thought it was too cute to not share.

Going Outside?

MBB told our oldest grandson to get his shoes so that they could go outside.

He decided that Nana needed her shoes too (and moved the blanket so that he could put them on my feet - who cares that they are on the wrong feet)...
He was on a speedy mission to get outside as fast as he could and he didn't seem to care that I was holding a sleeping little brother...He wanted everyone outside NOW!

Moments like this are so precious and I am so glad I had my phone to grab the photo.
I love being Nana!

Wishful Thinking???

I've always heard that you can tell what winter will be like by looking at the willy worms...
The darker they are, the harsher the winter will be.

I'm wondering if this means that winter will come in hard (as it has already - three snow storms in November already) and then coast through until a not so nice end...

Wishful thinking on my part maybe (and the fact that I've seen this color scheme quite a few times this fall)...

Imaginations...

In this day and age, I have started worrying about the future generations' imaginations.
It seems like most of them are glued to electronic screens / games...

This lessened my worry, at least about my grandbaby, and made me laugh at the same time.

We were helping some friends work on a house that they just bought...
When my grandbaby (yes, I need to come up with nicknames for them on here!) decided that a plastic drop clothe was really a superhero cape.  He ran around with it and had a ball...

Unfortunately, the only non-blurry picture (where you can't see his face) happens to be when he took a break in front of the TV...

No worries, he was back up showing off his cape in no time!

On a Package...

This was on a package that MBB received...
Made me laugh!

Surprise!

I opened the dishwasher the other day to find that a certain little body can now open it and is starting to load it for Nana.

I really need to check it before I hit "run" from now on!

It Might Be A Good Idea...

...To clean out area of the dryer vent that is leaving the house.

MBB had the ladder out to get some things done today and saw that we needed to clean out where the dryer vent exists the house.
Keep in mind that this is our new dryer vent that has been around for less than half of a year.
Needless to say, I was chuckling as the pile pulled out grew larger and larger.

Yes, that pile is pretty large - that is a small white trash can sitting behind the pile.

Looks like I should include that piece of maintenance/cleaning in my future book of things a new homeowner should know (along with my - change the furnace filter... Yes, there is one and if not changed in oh, five years will fall into the furnace)...

Wandering Around

I used to laugh when I would hear of someone roaming a parking lot searching for a vehicle.

I just couldn't imagine not being able to find my car.  Keep in mind that I had a green Tercel for awhile and then I had two Matrixes.   Both were always easy to spot so I didn't have any issues.

Now that I'm driving a black Camry, yes a Camry...you know the best selling car in America, well I'm having trouble finding my car.

Karma has visited.

So if you see a woman walking up and down rows of a parking lot, hitting the buttons on her keys until a car beeps, wave.

I'll wave back.

Leaning Post

I have to admit that I found this extremely entertaining!
He carried the orange "fort block maker" around the living room forever until he found the perfect spot for it...

Who Needs Hands?

He is his mother's son...
Using his hands to play.

Ever Wonder...

How long it takes for your toe nail to completely grow out?
Over a year.

The nail polish was applied on July 24, 2012...
This picture was taken one year and one day later...

My Balls!

A certain little boy loves his balls so much that both hands were busy holding the balls, but he still wanted to play...

What to do?

Use your head of course!
