#FridayFinds - Blinker's Tavern (Covington, KY)

We always try to go to a new place for our anniversary.
Blinker's was our pick for 2022 (I'm just a little late getting my blog caught up) and it was a good one!

We also got married on one of our friend's birthdays, so we celebrated her birthday also...

I would say that this is a repeat - but definitely get reservations!

#Memories - 2022 Christmas

2022 was a great Christmas for us...
Back in Kentucky full time and got to spend time with our family...
A year for the memories!

My first attempt at an Apple Pie!
Filling was great... crust needs major help.  :)

#Memories - Our Hawaii Trip

Our 2020 Mediterranean Trip morphed into a 2022 Hawaiian Inter-Island Cruise.
We had a great time and were happy that we were able to see four of the islands on our trip (our favorite was Kiai, though our favorite excursion was at the Hilo port on the Big Island) ...

Here's just a few of my favorite pictures - no filters, just my Android phone.

Now to start saving for another Mediterranean cruise. :)

#FridayFinds - Knotty Pine on the Bayou (Cold Springs, KY)

I'm going to continue the interruption of my restaurant catch up to spotlight my favorite.
I realized that I was going to Knotty Pine way before I started the #FridayFinds on this blog, so I never featured it. Fully transparent, I am still "catching up" as we went in July...

Time to fix that!

For my birthday, MBB scored reservations (yes, if you want to go and don't want to eat at 9pm - reservations are a must!) and it made for a great evening!

We always get the same thing - I don't see that ever changing.  :)

This is the second location that I have been to for Knotty Pine on the Bayou.  The first was just up the road in a very old, slanted building.  This one is nicer, but the first one had way more character. :)

MBB always gets the Cajun Sampler
(without the shrimp and a 2nd gumbo instead of the red beans and rice)
What I get isn't on the menu.  :)
I order the Steak Tips from the sampler and get it as a meal with gumbo and the boiled potatoes... I can't go to Knotty without getting their potatoes.
I got a Birthday dessert - Kahlua Pie
MBB didn't like it, but it was my birthday, and I knew exactly what I wanted!

It had been about six years since we had been to Knotty because of our move to Michigan. And the only restaurants in Southern Michigan / Toledo that claimed to be "Cajun" only had seafood - notice, no seafood in the pictures above.  It was great to visit an old friend again.

Should this post have been called #Remembering instead of
Namaste.

#FridayFinds - The Goetta Festival (Newport, KY)

Please excuse the interuption of my getting caught up on restaurants from the past to highlight a festival that has been on my bucket list for awhile...

We finally made it to the Goetta Festival.

I do love goetta - probably because I don't eat it very often.
If you don't have German roots or live in the Cincinnati area, you may not know what Goetta is.
I bring you - the festival's explanation:

Five of us went, we sampled a lot of stuff...
Goetta Cheese Tator Tots

Goetta Whirly Fries

Goetta Balls

The inside of a Goetta Ball

No Goetta here - a cream puff that wasn't very memorable... Okay, it was - because I want to remember not to get it again.  We also got an Apple Streusel that I thought I got a picture of but can't seem to find - MBB liked that way better.)

I can't remember the exact name - but this was a breakfast sandwich with donuts (for the bread), goetta, egg, bacon and cheese. It was yummy and a heart attack in the making - four of us split it to not overload our hearts.

I got my fill of goetta and I can check it off of my list.
The heat and blaring music (don't get me wrong, I love concerts - but this volume was a little overboard when people are sitting there trying to eat) probably won't make it a repeat for me. :(

One last memory from the festival:

#FridayFinds - Pete's Garage

Pete's Garage had been on the "to try" list for awhile, so when it was suggested for out "goodbye" dinner - it was a no brainer.  The only down side - we had such a big group (good problem to have) that we couldn't sit in the cars.
A big group also means a lot of food pictures and I'm not even sure what everyone ordered. LOL

If you can get in a car - definitely go for the memories.
