#SaturdaySongs - You Say

I am sharing a song if it...
> Spoke to what is going on in the world today...
> Moved me (for some reason or another)...
> Is a treasure that I just want to share...
> Is just something that I like to listen to...

NOTE: I am not receiving any compensation for spotlighting these songs. I did not write them, sing them or own them... I am just sharing with others who may love music too.

"You Say
Performed by Lauren Daigle
Written by Jason Ingram, Lauren Daigle, Paul Bredon Mabury

I don't remember how this song got on my radar, but it is on my play-list and I hear it often...

The lyrics speak to me as I used to battle anxiety and panic attacks on a daily basis in my early 20s.
For the most part, I have that battle under control...but there are days when I have to fight those voices in my head that try to make me feel like I'm not worth anything...

For those people who don't have their battle under control - it is vital that those of us who are a part of their lives keep reminding them of their value and their worth.
Too many don't hear those messages and don't believe that the battle is worth it anymore.
And that is a shame.

Lyrics:
I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I'm not enough
Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up
Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low?
Remind me once again just who I am, because I need to know, ooh oh
You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And You say I am held when I am falling short
And when I don't belong, oh, You say I am Yours
And I believe (I), oh, I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
I believe
The only thing that matters now is everything You think of me
In You I find my worth, in You I find my identity, ooh oh
You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And You say I am held when I am falling short
When I don't belong, oh, You say I am Yours
And I believe (I), oh, I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
Oh, I believe
Taking all I have and now I'm layin' it at Your feet
You'll have every failure God, You'll have every victory, ooh oh
You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
You say I am held when I am falling short
When I don't belong, oh, You say I am Yours
And I believe (I), oh, I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
I believe
Oh, I believe (I), yes, I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
I believe (oh)

#SaturdaySongs - Girl on Fire

I am sharing a song if it...
> Spoke to what is going on in the world today...
> Moved me (for some reason or another)...
> Is a treasure that I just want to share...
> Is just something that I like to listen to...

NOTE: I am not receiving any compensation for spotlighting these songs. I did not write them, sing them or own them... I am just sharing with others who may love music too.

"Girl on Fire
Performed by Alicia Keys
Written by Jeff Bhasker, Alicia Augello-Cook, Salaam Remi, Billy Squire, Nicki Minaj

A few years ago, I had to pick a walk up song for my "Get to Know Me Info" to teach a class at work.
I pick "Girl on Fire" mainly because I was causing the highways to be on fire at time.  I was traveling everywhere, all of the time trying to help diverse businesses, work in two different offices (in two different states) and still stay on top of my personal world.

Until I come up with a better walk up song, I think I'll keep this one.

Lyrics:
She's just a girl, and she's on fire
Hotter than a fantasy, longer like a highway
She's living in a world, and it's on fire
Feeling the catastrophe, but she knows she can fly away
Oh, she got both feet on the ground
And she's burning it down
Oh, she got her head in the clouds
And she's not backing down
This girl is on fire
This girl is on fire
She's walking on fire
This girl is on fire
Looks like a girl, but she's a flame
So bright, she can burn your eyes
Better look the other way
You can try but you'll never forget her name
She's on top of the world
Hottest of the hottest girls say
Oh, we got our feet on the ground
And we're burning it down
Oh, got our head in the clouds
And we're not coming down
This girl is on fire
This girl is on fire
She's walking on fire
This girl is on fire
Everybody stands, as she goes by
Cause they can see the flame that's in her eyes
Watch her when she's lighting up the night
Nobody knows that she's a lonely girl
And it's a lonely world
But she gon' let it burn, baby, burn, baby
This girl is on fire
This girl is on fire
She's walking on fire
This girl is on fire
Oh, oh, oh,
She's just a girl, and she's on fire

#SaturdaySongs - Time

I am sharing a song if it...
> Spoke to what is going on in the world today...
> Moved me (for some reason or another)...
> Is a treasure that I just want to share...
> Is just something that I like to listen to...

NOTE: I am not receiving any compensation for spotlighting these songs. I did not write them, sing them or own them... I am just sharing with others who may love music too.

"Time
Performed by NF
Written by Tommee Profitt, Nate Feurstein

I've heard this song here and there over the years (mainly when someone else puts it on the Juke-box)...
But then MBB put a few of NF's song on his playlist and I started to really listen to the words to this song and I realized how much it is about normal life and typical growth and evolving that happen in a relationship...

Lyrics:
Even if we both break down tonight
And you say you hate me
And we go to bed angry
I know everything will be alright
I'll be here waiting
I promise I'm changing
I just need
A little time to show you I'm worth it
I know that I can be a difficult person
I'm a stress case drive you up the wall when I'm workin'
Actually I'm prolly worse when I'm not you don't deserve it
Make you nervous 'cause you know I'ma break soon
Every time I do I say something that hurts you
Actin' like I'm gone, but we both in the same room
I don't like to be wrong which I know you relate to
And I know I make you feel like you're at the end of your road
That's when I look at you and tell you I'd be better alone
That's just the pride talkin' isn't it cause both of us know
I'm the definition of wreck if you look into my soul
Comes out the most
When I feel I'm in a vulnerable place
Made a lot of mistakes
I wish I knew how to erase
When I'm afraid
Might get distant, and I push you away
But no matter the case
I'ma do whatever it takes
Even if
Even if we both break down tonight
And you say you hate me
And we go to bed angry
I know everything will be alright
I'll be here waiting
I promise I'm changing
I just need time
I, I need time
I just need time
I, I need time
Time, time
Yeah
Way before I bought you the ring
We were fightin' back and forth like you were wearing the thing
Two passionate people not afraid to say what they think
Lead to passionate conversation when it's hard to agree
You know me well sittin' on the edge of my seat
Lookin' at life over analyzing everything
Always depressed tryn to find a better version of me
Searchin' for somethin' I knows prolly right in front of my feet
Stubborn as me?
Maybe not but you're close to it
Got a lot of issues I'm tryna work through 'em
Going to therapy for you's somethin' that's worth doing
When I know you been there for me through all of my worst moments
And I know it hurts knowin' that I carry this weight on my chest
Making it difficult for me to open up and connect
A lot of regrets
I apologize for all of the stress
That's not what I meant
To do
You know I love you to death
Even if
Even if we both break down tonight
And you say you hate me
And we go to bed angry
I know everything will be alright
I'll be here waiting
I promise I'm changing
I just need time
I, I need time
I just need time
I, I need time
Time, time
I just need time
I, I need time
I just need time
I, I need time
Time, time

#SaturdaySongs - 7

I am sharing a song if it...
> Spoke to what is going on in the world today...
> Moved me (for some reason or another)...
> Is a treasure that I just want to share...
> Is just something that I like to listen to...

NOTE: I am not receiving any compensation for spotlighting these songs. I did not write them, sing them or own them... I am just sharing with others who may love music too.

"7
Performed by Prince
Written by Jimmy Mccracklin, Lowell Fulsom, Prince Rogers Nelson

Anyone who has every played in a pool league with me knows that this is my absolute favorite song. If I am playing songs on the juke-box, it is pretty good odds that you will hear this song at some point during the night.

I also find it humorous the number of people who claim to not know any Prince songs or not like Prince and I catch them singing along to 7... Quite a few of them don't realize that 7 is Prince's.

Whether you think that 7 refers to the 7 deadly sings or the 7 record labels of the 90s...
It is a good song.

Lyrics:

All seven and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savior-faire
No one in the whole universe
Will ever compare
I am yours now and you are mine
And together we'll love through all
Space and time, so don't cry
One day all seven will die
All seven and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savoir-faire
No one in the whole universe
Will ever compare
I am yours now and you are mine
And together we'll love through all
Space and time, so don't cry
One day all seven will die
And I saw an angel come down unto me
In her hand she holds the very key
Words of compassion, words of peace
And in the distance an army's marching feet (one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four)
But behold, we will watch them fall
And we lay down on the sand of the sea
And before us animosity will stand and decree
That we speak not of love only blasphemy
And in the distance, six others will curse me
But that's alright (that's alright)
For I will watch them fall (one, two, three, four, five, six, seven)
All seven and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savoir-faire
No one in the whole universe
Will ever compare
I am yours now and you are mine
And together we'll love through all
Space and time, so don't cry
One day all seven will die
And we will see a plague and a river of blood
And every evil soul will surely die in spite of
And seven tears, but do not fear
Four in the distance, twelve souls from now
You and me will still be here we will still be here
There will be a new city with streets of gold
The young so educated they never grow old
And a, there will be no death four with every breath
A voice of many colors sings a song
That's so bold
Sing it while we watch them fall
All seven and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savoir-faire
No one in the whole universe
Will ever compare
I am yours now and you are mine
And together we'll love through all
Space and time, so don't cry
One day all seven will die

The version below is a cover by J-Krak & Cairo and isn't too bad.
Even though Prince's version is on YouTube, I couldn't get it to come up in the search feature in Blogger...

#SaturdaySongs - Sound of Silence

I am sharing a song if it...
> Spoke to what is going on in the world today...
> Moved me (for some reason or another)...
> Is a treasure that I just want to share...
> Is just something that I like to listen to...

NOTE: I am not receiving any compensation for spotlighting these songs. I did not write them, sing them or own them... I am just sharing with others who may love music too.

"Sound of Silence
Performed by Disturbed
Written by Paul Simon

I have always sang along with this song over the years; however, it didn't make it to my playlist until it was remade by Disturbed.  In all honesty, I am not a Disturbed fan...but I love the range of David Draiman's voice on this version.

Lyrics:
For tonight's performance of the The Sound of Silence
Join us on the stage
To be the odd Garfunkel to my Paul Simon tonight
Please welcome mister Myles Kennedy
Now fire up those lighter and cellphone
And hold them it up in the air people, now it's the time
Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools, " said I, "You do not know
Silence, like a cancer, grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells, of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sounds of silence

#SaturdaySongs - Today's Not Yesterday

I am sharing a song if it...
> Spoke to what is going on in the world today...
> Moved me (for some reason or another)...
> Is a treasure that I just want to share...
> Is just something that I like to listen to...

NOTE: I am not receiving any compensation for spotlighting these songs. I did not write them, sing them or own them... I am just sharing with others who may love music too.

"Today's Not Yesterday
Performed by Shane Filan
Written by David Sneddon, Sane Filan, James Bauer-mein

I have been a fan of Westlive since my first trip to Japan years and years ago...
The only English TV station was doing doing a feature on them and I was hooked.
My trip to Ireland in 2001 allowed me to pick up all of the non-USA versions of their CDs and the internet allowed me to continue my purchases until the band broke up...

Shane released a few solo songs and this one made it to my playlist.

Good news - the band is now back together...

Lyrics:
I know all things have to end
But I don't feel ready
Can you still hear me
Can I do this all again
If I keep my head down
Would you still see me
'Cos I don't think its over
Maybe I'm gonna find a way
No I don't think it's over
Everything that they might say
Forget it all
Today's not yesterday
Today's not yesterday
I know nothing's set in stone
I'll pick up the pieces and try to move on
If you're asking me to go
I'll always listen
You just got to let me know
'Cos I don't think it's over
Maybe I'm gonna find a way
No I don't think, it's over
Everything that they might say
Forget it all
Today's not yesterday
Today's not yesterday
I don't think it's over
Maybe I'm gonna find a way
No-one tells you it's over
Everything that they might say
Forget it all
Today's not yesterday
Today's not yesterday
Today's not yesterday

#SaturdaySongs - Where is the Love?

I am sharing a song if it...
> Spoke to what is going on in the world today...
> Moved me (for some reason or another)...
> Is a treasure that I just want to share...
> Is just something that I like to listen to...

NOTE: I am not receiving any compensation for spotlighting these songs. I did not write them, sing them or own them... I am just sharing with others who may love music too.

"Where is The Love?
Performed by Black Eyed Peas
Written by Allan Pineda, Giorgio Hesdey Tuinfort, Jaime Gomez, Jayceon Taylor, Justin Timberlake, Khaled Khaled, Rakim Mayers, Will Adams

This is another song that I think is just as applicable today as it was when it was released in 2003...
I wish more people would listen, reflect and find the love...

Lyrics:
People killin' people dyin'
Children hurtin', I hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preachin'?
Would you turn the other cheek again?
Mama, mama, mama, tell us what the hell is goin' on
Can't we all just get along?
Father, father, father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me
Questioning
(Where's the love)
Yo what's going on with the world, momma
(Where's the love)
Yo people living like they ain't got no mommas
(Where's the love)
I think they all distracted by the drama and
Attracted to the trauma, mamma
(Where's the love)
I think they don't understand the concept or
The meaning of karma
(Where's the love)
Overseas, yeah they trying to stop terrorism
(Where's the love)
Over here on the streets the police shoot
The people put the bullets in 'em
(Where's the love)
But if you only got love for your own race
(Where's the love)
Then you're gonna leave space for others to discriminate
(Where's the love)
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate
Madness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how hate works and operates
Man, we gotta set it straight
Take control of your mind and just meditate
And let your soul just gravitate
To the love, so the whole world celebrate it
People killin' people dyin'
Children hurtin', I hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preachin'?
Would you turn the other cheek again?
Mama, mama, mama, tell us what the hell is goin' on
Can't we all just get along?
Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questioning
(Where's the love)
It just ain't the same, always in change
(Where's the love)
New days are strange, is the world insane?
(Where's the love)
Nation droppin' bombs killing our little ones
(Where's the love)
Ongoing suffering as the youth die young
(Where's the love)
Where's the love when a child gets murdered
Or a cop gets knocked down
Black lives not now
Everybody matter to me
All races, y'all don't like what I'm sayin'? Haterade, tall cases
Everybody hate somebody
Guess we all racist
Black Eyed Peas do a song about love and y'all hate this
All these protests with different colored faces
We was all born with a heart
Why we gotta chase it?
And every time I look around
Every time I look up, every time I look down
No one's on a common ground
(Where's the love)
And if you never speak truth then you never know how love sounds
(Where's the love)
And if you never know love then you never know God, wow
(Where's the love)
Where's the love y'all? I don't, I don't know
Where's the truth y'all? I don't know
People killin' people dyin'
Children hurtin', I hear them cryin'
Could you practice what you preach?
Would you turn the other cheek?
Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questioning
(Where's the love)
(Where's the love)
Love is the key
(Where's the love)
Love is the answer
(Where's the love)
Love is the solution
(Where's the love)
(Where's the love)
They don't want us to love
(Where's the love)
Love is powerful
(Where's the love)
(Where's the love)
My mama asked me why I never vote never vote
'Cause police men want me dead and gone (Dead and gone)
That election looking like a joke (Such a joke)
And the weed man still sellin' dope
Somebody gotta give these niggas hope (Please hope)
All he ever wanted was a smoke (My gosh)
Said he can't breathe with his hands in the air
Layin' on the ground died from a choke
(Where's the love)
I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders
As I'm gettin' older y'all people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin'
Selfishness got us followin' the wrong direction
Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinemas
What happened to the love and the values of humanity?
(Where's the love)
What happened to the love and the fairness and equality?
(Where's the love)
Instead of spreading love we're spreading animosity
(Where's the love)
Lack of understanding leading us away from unity
(Where's the love)

#SaturdaySongs - Tuesday Morning

I am sharing a song if it...
> Spoke to what is going on in the world today...
> Moved me (for some reason or another)...
> Is a treasure that I just want to share...
> Is just something that I like to listen to...

"Tuesday Morning
Performed by Melissa Etheridge
Written by Jon Craig Taylor, Melissa Etheridge

This song has been on my playlist for quite a few years now...
It talks about Flight 93 which was hijacked on September 11, 2001 during the attacks on America...
And though we have made much progress in the LGBTQ+ movement since 2001, it is a good reminder for me that we still have work to do.

Lyrics:
Up and down this road I go
Skippin' and dodgin'
From a 44
10:03 on a Tuesday morning
In the fall of an American dream
A man is doing what he knows is right
On flight 93
He loved his mom and he loved his dad
He loved his home and he loved his man
But on that bloody Tuesday morning
He died an American
Now you cannot change this
You can't erase this
You can't pretend this is not the truth
Even though he could not marry
Or teach your children in our schools
Because who he wants to love
Is breaking your Gods' rules
He stood up on a Tuesday morning
In the terror he was brave
And he made his choice
And without a doubt
A hundred lives he must have saved
And the things you might take for granted
Your inalienable rights
Some might chose to deny him
Even though he gave his life
Can you live with yourself in the land of the free
And make him less of a hero than the other three
Well it might begin to change ya
In a field in Pennsylvania
Stand up America
Hear the bell now as it tolls
Wake up America
It's Tuesday morning
Come on let's roll

#SaturdaySongs - The Champion

I am sharing a song if it...
> Spoke to what is going on in the world today...
> Moved me (for some reason or another)...
> Is a treasure that I just want to share...
> Is just something that I like to listen to...
NOTE: I am not receiving any compensation for spotlighting these songs. I did not write them, sing them or own them... I am just sharing with others who may love music too.

"The Champion
Performed by Carrie Underwood featuring Ludacris
Written by Brett James, Chris De Stefano, Christopher Brian Bridges, Carrie Underwood

The first time that I heard this song was while watching the video.
And the message that the video was giving is truly what made this song so powerful for me.
Now, when I hear the song (which is often) - the emotion and impact is still driven from the video.

Lyrics:
I'll be the last one standing
Two hands in the air, I'm a champion
You'll be looking up at me when it's over
I live for the battle, I'm a soldier, yeah
I'm a fighter like Rocky
Put you flat on your back like Ali
Yeah, I'm the greatest, I'm stronger
Paid my dues, can't lose, Imma own ya, ay
I've been working my whole life
And now it's do or die
I am invincible, unbreakable
Unstoppable, unshakeable
They knock me down, I get up again
I am the champion
You're gonna know my name
You can't hurt me now
I can't feel the pain
I was made for this, yeah, I was born to win
I am the champion
When they write my story
They're gonna say that I did it for the glory
But don't think that I did it for the fame, yeah
I did it for the love of the game, yeah
And this is my chance I'm taking
All them old records I'm breaking
All you people watching on the TV
You go ahead and put your bets on me, ay
I've been waiting my whole life
To see my name in lights
I am invincible, unbreakable
Unstoppable, unshakeable
They knock me down, I get up again
I am the champion
You're gonna know my name
You can't hurt me now
I can't feel the pain
I was made for this, yeah, I was born to win
I am the champion, oh
Born champion, Luda
The C is for the courage I possess through the drama
H is for the hurt but it's all for the honor
A is for my attitude working through the patience
Money comes and goes so the M is for motivation
Gotta stay consistent, the P is to persevere
The I is for integrity, innovative career
The O is optimistic, open and never shut
And the N is necessary 'cause I'm never giving up
See they ask me how I did it, I just did it from the heart
Crushing the competition, been doing it from the start
They say that every champion is all about his principles
Carrie
I am invincible, unbreakable
Unstoppable, unshakeable
They knock me down, I get up again
I am the champion
You're gonna know my name
You can't hurt me now
I can't feel the pain
I was made for this, yeah, I was born to win
I am the champion
I'm the champion, yeah
Surpassed all rivals
It's all about who wants it the most (I am the champion)
Fight for what we believe in
That's what champions are made of
I am the champion

"Dancing in the Sky
Performed by Dani and Lizzy
Written by Elizabeth Hyde, Danielle Hyde

August is a rough month for me... MommyMarie's birthday is at the beginning of the month and my Dad's transition anniversary is at the end of the month.

This song is one of two that I listen to during the times that are a bit rougher than others...

Lyrics:
Tell me, what does it look like in heaven?
Is it peaceful? Is it free like they say?
Does the sun shine bright forever?
Have your fears and your pain gone away?
'Cause here on earth it feels like
Everything good is missing since you left
And here on earth everything's different
There's an emptiness
Oh, oh, I
I hope you're dancing in the sky
And I hope you're singing in the angel's choir
And I hope the angels know what they have
I'll bet it's so nice up in heaven since you arrived
So tell me, what do you do up in heaven?
Are your days filled with love and light?
Is there music? Is there art and adventure?
Tell me are you happy? Are you more alive?
'Cause here on earth it feels like
Everything good is missing since you left
And here on earth everything's different
There's an emptiness
Oh, oh, I
I hope you're dancing in the sky
And I hope you're singing in the angel's choir
And I hope the angels know what they have
I'll bet it's so nice up in heaven since you arrived
Since you arrived
Oh, oh
(What does it look like in heaven?) Yeah, yeah
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, I
I hope you're dancing in the sky
And I hope you're singing in the angel's choir
And I hope the angels know what they have
I'll bet it's so nice up in heaven since you arrived
Since you arrived

#SaturdaySongs - Here On Earth

I am sharing a song if it...
> Spoke to what is going on in the world today...
> Moved me (for some reason or another)...
> Is a treasure that I just want to share...
> Is just something that I like to listen to...

NOTE: I am not receiving any compensation for spotlighting these songs. I did not write them, sing them or own them... I am just sharing with others who may love music too.

"Here on Earth
Performed by Tim McGraw
Written by Jessie Joe Dillon, Chase McGill, Jon Nite

The video starts out with a very important message:
"As we go through life it helps to remember that we are together here on Earth"
I really recommend that you watch the video - the messages/signs in the video are very powerful...

So, why are you here on Earth?
I am here to be the change that I want to see in the world...

Lyrics:
At his mean momma's
On a Saturday night
Buy him a Corona
In the blink of an eye
There's a ring on her finger
But through him parking lot drives
And they're standin' in the kitchen
And there's two pink lines
Nine months later, you're breathin'
And you're the reason
They're here on earth

It's like we opened our eyes
For the very first time
When we found out why
We're here on earth
Here on earth

The drunks get sober
And poets get drunk
Wonder years wander
Guitars get strummed
We all need dreams worth dreamin'
Somethin' to believe in
Here on earth
(Here on earth, here on earth, here on earth)

It's like we opened our eyes
For the very first time
When we found out why
We're here on earth
Here on earth

I was a book full of questions
Heart full of doubt
I sent 'em up to heaven
Answers never came down
Till they did one night
Maybe lovin' you's why
I'm here on earth
Here on earth

It's like we opened our eyes
For the very first time
When we found out why
We're here on earth
Here on earth

It's like you opened my eyes
For the very first time
Yeah, lovin' you's why
I'm here on earth
Here on earth, hey, eh, eh

Here on earth
Yeah, lovin' you's why
I'm here on earth
Here on earth, hey

Namaste.

#SaturdaySongs - Remembering

I am sharing a song if it...

"Remembering
Performed by Ashley Campbell
Written by Ashley Campbell, Kai Jaron Welch

This song has been a favorite of mine for awhile now...
But after MommyMarie made her transition, the end hits me a bit harder than it did before...
The last time I talked to her, she couldn't remember my name and didn't know what to say...
That's okay - I'll do the remembering!

Lyrics:
Four years old running up the stairs to your bed
Thunder rolls and I pull the covers over my head
You say it's just a storm, enjoy the show
You take me to the window, show me that it's beautiful
Never had to ask you to sing for me
It's just the way to put me at ease
Bone for bone we are the same
Bones get tired and they can't carry all the weight
We can talk until you can't even remember my name
Daddy don't you worry, I'll do the remembering
Daddy don't you worry, I'll do the remembering
First guitar and I just wasn't getting it right
You showed me how to play it, said it doesn't happen overnight
And in a couple years I come home and show you how I play "Blackbird"
And though I miss a couple notes you still say
That it was the best you'd ever heard
Never had to ask you to smile for me
It's just the way you put me at ease
Bone for bone we are the same
Bones get tired and they can't carry all the weight
We can talk until you can't even remember my name
Daddy don't you worry, I'll do the remembering
Daddy don't you worry, I'll do the remembering
Now I have to ask you to sing for me
And I have to show you the words to sing
You're standing right in front of me and slipping away
Bone for bone we are the same
Bones get tired and they can't carry all the weight
We can talk until you can't even remember my name
Daddy don't you worry, I'll do the remembering
Daddy don't you worry, I'll do the remembering

 Namaste.

#SaturdaySongs - Jealous Of The Angels

"Jealous of the Angels
Performed by Donna Taggart
Written by Zachary N. Runquist, Jennifer Bostic, Jimmy Fortune, Barrett Yeretsian

August is a rough month for me... MommyMarie's birthday is at the beginning of the month and my Dad's transition anniversary is at the end of the month.

This song is one of two that I listen to during the times that are a bit rougher than others...

Lyrics:
I didn't know today would be our last
Or that I'd have to say goodbye to you so fast
I'm so numb, I can't feel anymore
Prayin' you'd just walk back through that door
And tell me that I was only dreamin'
You're not really gone as long as I believe
There will be another angel
Around the throne tonight
Your love lives on inside of me
And I will hold on tight
It's not my place to question
Only God knows why
I'm just jealous of the angels
Around the throne tonight
You always made my troubles feel so small
And you were always there to catch me when I'd fall
In a world where heroes come and go
Well God just took the only one I know
So I'll hold you as close as I can
Longing for the day, when I see your face again
But until then
God must need another angel
Around the throne tonight
Your love lives on inside of me
And I will hold on tight
It's not my place to question
Only God knows why
I'm just jealous of the angels
Around the throne tonight
Singin' hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
I'm just jealous of the angels
Around the throne tonight

 Namaste.

"Wonderful Beautiful
Performed by Kane Brown

This song is, in my opinion, very fitting right now with all of the equality work that we have to do...
I read somewhere that he has had this song for for about a year and was just waiting for the right time to release it...
I think now is the right time...

Lyrics:
White churches, black churches
Different people, same hearses
It's kinda hard to fight with each other
Laying down in the ground, six under
At every show I see my people
They ain't the same, but they're all equal
One love, one God, one family
You're missing every color
If you're only seeing black and white
Tell me how you're gonna change your mind
If your heart's unmovable
We ain't that different from each other
From one to another, I look around
And see worldwide beautiful
Thank God, thank God, thank God, thank God, thank God, thank God
Oh, thank God, thank God, thank God, thank God, thank God, thank God
Coast to coast, city to city
Reach out your hands if you're with me
Still got some work but we still got a dream
Every shade, every heart come together and

Namaste.

#SaturdaySongs - I Dare You

I am sharing a song if it...
> Spoke to what is going on in the world today...
> Moved me (for some reason or another)...
> Is a treasure that I just want to share...
> Is just something that I like to listen to...

First up: "I Dare You
Performed by Kelly Clarkson
Written by Ben West, Jeff Gitelman, Jesse Shatkin, Laura Veltz, Natalie Hemby

This song is beautiful in its original form and the lyric video touched me...

Now, get out YouTube and search for it... You will find it in a mega-mix global version (amazing), an ASL version (touching), different language versions (impressive)... and I'm hoping soon - a virtual acapella version (that Kelly doesn't even sing in) that Kelly posted a snippet on Instragram...

Lyrics:
There's a wolf that preys on a world
That strays so far from the Garden (oh)
And just like your own
Every heart you know seems cold and hardened (oh)
You may not have the stage, but you still have a voice
You may not have the strength, but if you have a choice
I dare you to love
Oh, I dare you to love
Even if you're hurt and you can only see the worst
Even if you think it's not enough
Oh, I dare you to love
We're all full of hope, tryna stay afloat, tryna save one another
People let you drown 'cause they don't know how to stay above water (oh)
When they're too broken to know what they've put you through
Do the only thing that you'd want done to you
Oh, I dare you to love (dare you to love)
Oh, I dare you to love (I dare you to love)
Even if you're hurt and you can only see the worst (oh)
Even if you think it's not enough
Oh, I dare you to love
I dare you to love, oh
You may not have the stage, but you still have a voice
You may not have the strength, but if you have a choice
I dare you to love, even if you can't
No, I dare you to love
Oh, even if you're hurt
And you can only see the worst (even if you only)
Even if you think it's not enough
Oh, I, I dare you
I dare you

Oh, I, I dare you to love
