Dora and Fish

I may have mentioned previously that I like to spend one-on-one time with my older nephews and niece. I try to do something fun with them - either a weekend or just an event.

As of today, I can now start saying nephews and nieces!

Dora joined me for dinner and an evening at the aquarium! We had a blast and I loved that she wanted me to "hold you" most of the time (my arms will probably be very sore tomorrow!).
Here is a picture of my favorite fish. I did a report on "Dangers in the Sea" in 6th grade (I think) and I have been partial to the "Lionfish" ever since. It has a variety of different names, but I always remember "Lionfish" the best.

Interesting

I was overcome by aliens yesterday. Really.
The invasion may have continued into today. No lie.

A little thing that should have invoked mild confusion pushed me over onto frustration and anger of the set-me-off proportions (it's a good thing I was home alone last night). Today, I started craving chocolate. Today, my face continued to break out. Today, I felt myself in one of those bitchy moods.

The problem?
According to the calendar, this should not be happening this week!

By chance have I hung out with some of my female friends / family members too much this past month? Did the long amounts of time in the air and the jet-lag mess with me?

Alright! Who's messing with my calendar???

I'm Back. . .

I love traveling. I love seeing new places. I love having the memories from my trips.
But dang, I think I love home most of all!

Japan was good - though a week doesn't quite justify the 30 hours in the air, not including lay-overs! I worked some long hours and had two evenings to do some serious socializing (ok, since the socializing is all I took pictures of, it does appear that is all I did. . .Not the case!).

I had today to get back into the swing of things. I think that I am almost over my jet-lag (yeah...it only took two days!!!). The checkbooks are balanced. The refrigerator has food in it again. The 'don't put me in the wash machine' clothes are at the cleaners. The last load of laundry is in the machine. I will be heading back in the exercise mode tonight. Whew!

Life is good. It's good to be home!

Taking Some Time Off...

I'm taking a week off from the gym. . .Which means that I am also taking a week off from the blog.

Why you ask? I decided that I need to get one more stamp in my passport before it expires! :)

I'll talk to everyone when I get back. I take no responsibility for anything I type while jet-lagged!

Hmmm. . .

Gonna cross a lot off of my list? Yeah right!

I did get a lot done. . .But it was things that I had "forgotten" to put on the list. As a result, the next few days will be very interesting! Wanna join me?? :P

I need to find a copy of the Footloose soundtrack or the Pointer Sisters to do some speed cleaning. Remember that MommyMarie??? :)

So Much To Do...

I have four days to get everything done. . .
And the 'To Do List' is multiplying like rabbits!

So, my goal is to cross at least three things off of my list tomorrow!
That won't really put a dent in it, but I'm hoping that it will spring-board me into Wednesday.

Thought of the Day:
Why is it that just when I find something that interests me, I have to leave for a week?

A Law is A Law...Isn't It???

If I remember correctly, the voters in Ohio decided to make the state smoke-free.
Didn't we???

I could have sworn that was what the results were?
Weren't they???

I must have been on something. . .My memories are on the wrong track. . .
Otherwise, why else would a club IN OHIO be full of smoke tonight?

Someone, please, remind me to call my doctor on Monday - maybe I can get some medication to help with my faulty memory!

Don't Be A Victim of Fraud!

Check this one out: http://www.snopes.com/crime/fraud/juryduty.asp

My philosophy: I will not give out social or other types of info to people who call me. I will refuse, hang up and call the company directly to make sure that I am talking to who I think I'm talking to.

I received a message the other night to call the Security Group at my Credit Card company at a number that I did not recognize. I called a number I knew and had them forward me to the department. The lady at the Credit Card company was impressed by this and told me that I was one of the smart ones. The number left on my voice mail turned out to be legit, but I'll continue to do what I do in the future.

Rather be safe than sorry. I'm weird like that! :)

Cards I've Received...

I've received some cards over the years that I have hung in my office as "affirmations" or "truths" that I may need on occasion to read to remember. I decided to post them here for me to refer to when needed and for others to enjoy (and to remove some clutter from my life).

"Contentment comes from within. It's not dependent on other people or external things."

"I do not use yesterday's mental garbage to create tomorrow's experiences. I create fresh new thoughts and a fresh new life."

"If, earlier in your life, others could not express their love to you, it was because they were blocked, not because of some defect in you."

"In a relationship, there are two dreamers with two different dreams. You need to accept the differences that exist between two dreamers; you need to respect each other's dream."

"I release the need to blame anyone, including myself. We are all doing the best we can with the understanding, knowledge and awareness we have."

My favorite (This will continue to hang in my office):
"Loving others is easy when I love and accept myself."

As I typed these, I realized that I may need to read them more often. . .
I have forgotten many of these truths.

Mirrors and Friends

Mirrors are great! I look in one multiple times of the day - especially to make sure that no pesky broccoli is stuck in my braces!

Friends are great! I have a few that I would do anything for and enjoy spending time with. I'm not talking about acquaintances - I am talking about true friends.

I thought every house / apartment / condo had a mirror. . .Right?
Everyone has friends. . .Right?

Afraid not.

We went out dancing Saturday and ran into some people that unfortunately do not have mirrors or friends. Because if they did - there is no way in he** that they would have left the house looking like they did. My friend and I agreed - if either one of us had looked like that, the other would have stepped in and smacked down some intervention.

You know those crazy bachlorette party veil things? I got her to agree: My friend will hit me upside the head and put me out of my misery if I ever remotely act like I will wear one of those things!
