#FridayFinds - Lalo

The great thing about working in a new location is to try a bunch of new restaurants!

Up next in downtown Cincinnati was Lalo.  The food was good and I'd recommend it to someone looking for somewhere new, but it isn't a "we have to go" spot for me.  If someone suggests, I'll be up for it - does that make sense?

I've been wanting to try Taste of Belgium since I moved back to the Cincinnati area and finally got my chance!  I went to the location in northern downtown Cincinnati for the pictures below.  I have also made it to their Findlay Market stall for a yummy treat. 

It's a great spot when you are in a brunch mood...

On my final work trip of 2023 to Washington DC, we took a group dinner to a women owned restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia. 

The food and company were both great.  We even got to meet the owner.

When you stumble upon an ice cream shop with A TON of flavors, the best thing to do is to get a flight!

In the midst of our Kansas City girls' night, we stopped at the Brick for some food.

The food was surprisingly good - I took the advice of our waitress and tried a new combination (especially with a belly full of mixed drinks)!

We took a night on the town to bar hop and try a lot of drinks, then ended up listening to some jazz before enjoying an audience participation show at a piano bar (the mixed drinks at the piano bar, Voo Lounge, had a lot to be desired, so no picture from there).

I headed out to Kansas to see my bestie for a long weekend...

Here come some restaurants from that trip - primarily in Kansas City...

I am always looking for a BBQ sauce that isn't sweet - when I asked, they brought me a flight of sauces to try.  I did buy one of them to bring home - but we still haven't opened it to see if it tastes sweet to my "no sweet for an entree" picky eater...

Another work trip found me at another group dinner...

The restaurant was a hidden mystery - no name on the door (I had to grab the name from their website) and even my Uber driver didn't know of it.  There food was AMAZING - to the point that I guess they don't need all of the walk by traffic!

The crab cake was by far the best that I have ever had!  There was almost no filler and was absolutely delicious.  The bad thing - I don't think I will like "the normal crab cakes" anymore! :(
