Blog Changes

I have decided to make some changes...
Not sure why, it just feels right.

First off, I am taking the ads off of the page...
They annoy me...
And don't provide any benefit...
So - they are gone!

Second, I found a new theme/background.
I had to make sure that the previous white text could remain (since my links are hard coded white)…
I think I was successful.
Not sure how long I will keep it as I am not a huge blue fan...
But hey, change is good!

If anyone has successions for any other changes (topics, hashtags, pictures, etc), just let me know!

Content Issues...

I am realizing a few things:
 > I am running out of new places in SE Michigan/NE Ohio to blog about for #FridayFinds
 > I am in the midst of my travel season for work, so no time to be creative for #CreativeTuesdays
 > I am too tired to think for #RememberingWednesdays (or whatever the heck I called it)
 > I have no idea if this blog is being read or is simply here for my sanity (either is okay)

So, either I need to find time to be creative about posts or actually create things...
Or someone needs to give me a topic (and find me the time to get to a computer)…

If you don't want to post a comment here - send me an email or private message.  :D

Completely Michiganders...

I was browsing through some of the post on the blog (fixed a few typos) and saw how much I commented on our relocation and trying to sell the house in Kentucky...

So, I thought I should let everyone know that we have closed the chapter on Kentucky and are 100% Michiganders... FINALLY.

MBB is still not extremely happy about moving to the Artic, but there are far more items in the positive side of the list than he expected.  I am extremely happy with our location - though we won't talk about visitors!

And - I asked my friend about the meaning behind Michigander...
Apparently, Abe Lincoln was the first to say the term... And it wasn't in a good way, but it stuck.
In 2011, a poll was held that revealed that 58% of residents preferred that term (according to Wikipedia).

So, I am a Michigander!

Hashtags...

I use them...
On twitter...
On facebook...
Here...

I made up a few for there: #CraftyTuesday and #FridayFinds

Then, someone asked if anyone knew what a "typical" hashtag was for a Tuesday...
Have I mentioned that my best friend's name is Google?
:)

Here are some "typical" daily hashtags for future reference...
#MotivationalMonday
#TransformationTuesday or #TravelTuesday
#WellnessWednesday
#ThrowbackThursday or #TBT
#FoodieFriday (which kinda goes with my #FridayFinds)
#ShoutoutSaturday
#SundayRead or #SundaySpecial

Blog Thoughts

It's Saturday...
>It's 17 degrees (F) outside and about 1/2" of snow on the ground...
>The laundry is in the dryer...
>The dishwasher has been emptied...
>We got two boxes unpacked in the garage earlier today...
>The grocery shopping is done (mainly because I was craving something - see next point)...
>There is Baked Potato Soup in the crockpot...
Yep, typical Saturday...

I'm just sitting here, with a cup of yummy coffee in my new Nana mug (did you see my note about 17 degrees???), trying to figure out what I should do with this blog.
I enjoy knowing that it is here, even if I haven't posted in awhile.
I'm not sure why - some kind of security blanket, I guess.
I don't want to bore everyone with "just quilts" or "just restaurants" or "just" anything...
But I do like to document the quilts and restaurants (I do refer back to them almost like my own personal on-line filing cabinet (If you click on a label, it will show you only the posts with that label)...
I am trying to switch it up.
And keep myself centered in today, and not yesterday...

So - if anyone (I stumbled upon the fact that 30 people are "following" this blog) has a topic that they think would be good to either spotlight weekly or even once, feel free to throw it out there.

Kaizening

So,  I have had times when I really want to blog,  but am not near the computer.
Then,  when I am near the computer...I usually don't feel like thinking about what I want to write about.

So tonight, I decided to get some thoughts into the blogger app on my phone, but not worry about making it look nice and publishing.

Hopefully, when I am near the computer,  I will be ok just making things look pretty and not having to create from scratch.

We shall see.

And...this was drafted over a month ago and is just not being put out there.
Yep...Didn't work.

Time is Flying!

I blinked and...
July and August are both gone.

I have no excuse for not blogging in July.
None.
I didn't travel for work (that one day during working hours doesn't count)...
I just spent lots of time with family and getting some stuff done.

August had a big chunk that we spent in Vegas on vacation...
Yep, I'm using that one for August.

September finds me traveling again for the Big T, but I do have a lot of posts in draft form.
See, I do think about the blog on occasion.

My dilemma now is whether to back date the drafts...
But then it looks like I did post during those months and hey...
All about transparency here...
And the cat that keeps trying to lay on the keyboard right now...
Yes, as I type.

I have the evening to myself...
Other than making my fitbit happy...
So, I am going to try to get some blogging done.

Hanging My Head in Shame...

Well, I fell back into the non-blogging mode.

Some is the same ole, same ole - stress, work, yadda yadda yadda...
But, I am also getting into my craft room more, which should mean blogging with the computer sitting right there (and I don't have to fight anyone for it)...
Instead, the focus has been sewing and geneology.

And April looks to be a very heavy work travel month for me, so...
Yeah...
Let's not sound like a broken record here...

The sewing is very meditation for me and allows me to spend a lot of time thinking about my future and what my options are...
Not sure if anything will come of it or not, but it's worth exploring!

It's That Day Again...

Yes, I've been slacking a bit on the blogging lately...
Along with the exercising...
And keeping my sanity...

But my computer is now operational in my craft room, so I might blog a bit more.
If I make it to my craft room.

Since work is exploding in my face and will get even worse in March...
Let's just say that I need to get to my craft room.

So, what brings me blogging today?

Well, a trip to my craft room for one...
After all, I must celebrate my least favorite holiday of the year!

Doesn't matter if I'm single or not, this day always sucks.
Don't expect that will ever change.
But then again, many say it's a fake holiday anyway...
So, maybe I should say that it is my least favorite fake holiday of the year!

Blogging

Notice that I am doing a bit better about blogging as 2014 comes to a close?
I am hopeful that my blog is no longer considered a "dead blog"...
:)

Granted, full disclosure/transparency here, it does make it easier that I can schedule blogs for the future.  I did sit down quite a few times to blog this month, but I think I wrote at least two blog posts each time that I did.  I still think that I can consider this a successful blogging month.

I know that I won't be able to keep this up every month...
There are at least two months that, on workdays, I am out of town more than I am in the office.

Although, if my Pad does better with the blogger app (and since it has a keyboard), there may be a good chance that the blog goes back to more thoughts than pictures (hey, even with swipe, it's not so easy on the phone!).

We shall see...

Blog Updates...

I started looking at my blog (on the web, not in blogger) and realized that it needed a face lift.

So, I kept the same template, but refreshed the fonts / colors a bit.
Hopefully, it isn't too hard to read...

I also realized how many people have forgotten about their blogs!
I know that I am bad about not posting consistently, but when I do - I find that I feel a bit better.  Don't know if this is a form of venting for me or not, but hey if it's not broken...
Who knows how many people actually read my vents, honestly - who would want to?, but there are some out there that I have enjoyed reading...
Whether from getting a good recipe, sale notification or just to realize that someone else out there has similar situations in life and I don't feel so alone...

So, if I had a blog listed who has not posted in over a year...
Well, let's just say that the list is more current.
There are a few who haven't posted in months, but I am still hoping that they come back.  I so loved reading their blogs!

Since my feedly app is no longer working on my new/replacement phone, I don't know how many of these I will continue to read on a daily basis.  :(

There was a June?

I am wrapping up one of the heaviest traveling months of my career.
Not kidding.
At all.

There were 21 working days in June of 2014.
I was in the office exactly nine of them.
Yes, I said 9.

Full transparency - I was out of the office two days on personal time...
But the other 10...
All work!

There was one day that I drove through four states.
Just to follow with three the next day.
12 hours in the car going 700 miles.
Yeah - fun.

I am so looking forward to staying home for the next few weeks.
Still not sure that I can say that I'm not traveling in July, but it will be close...

I would love to commit to posting more often, but as I have a huge To Do list to get through...
It may take me awhile.

Jinxed

I totally jinxed myself.

I had to go and post about doing a good job blogging...
Just to turn around and not blog for about two weeks.

AUGH.

I can't even use work as an excuse - I haven't been traveling the last few weeks.
But, we have been working on the house a lot.
Trying to take care of the pool...
And put a very small dent in the list of things to do in the next two years.

Yeah - that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Blogging

Well I've done better about bloggin recently...
But I feel like I am primarily posting lots of pictures.

I guess that it where my life is right now...
And, I like taking pictures.

So, I guess I am primarily posting lots of pictures.
And not so many witty thoughts.

I'm good with that.
For now.

Searching

I very rarely get on my home laptop anymore.
I can do so much from my smartphone, that I only really have a need when I am working on our bills.

I have so many things that I think - I want to write about that...
But blogger no longer likes my browser at work and I really don't like the blogger app.

So, that leaves long periods of time when I don't post anything.
And I really don't like that.

Not really sure how to fix...
But I am searching to figure it out!

Thoughts

Well, yesterday was tough.
Hormonal.
Frustrating.
I know what the cause is, but the only "fix" is time.
Patient, I am not.

I did decide to change the look of the blog page.
Was getting tired of the maroon swirls.
Not sure if the dark gray is any better - kinda monotone and color-less.

Hey, fits my mood today.

I did have some yummy, left-over potato soup.
My fitness pal doesn't like it so much - gotta work on reducing the calories while keeping the taste.

Have I mentioned that I was successful on that challenge with the peanut butter pie.
I haven't documented that one yet, because I may be able to squeak out a few more calories.
Stay tuned on the results of that one.

I made a good dent on the 12 books for 2014, but fell off a bit on the practicing of pool.
I'll get back to that one.

I did get to 10,000 steps five times in the last week and a half.  Now to get back to that daily.  I am doing better with tracking the calories, hoping that leads toward less calories being tracked.
I'll be so happy when mother nature allows me to walk outside at lunch again.

Don't know that this blog post had any rhyme or reason other than I was at my laptop and could type a bit.
That needs to be priority as well.
Eventually.

Namaste.

Blogging

I'm using a new-to-me invention on my smartphone: Speak to Type.
I used to have a lot of time to sit in front of the computer…
To make my thoughts perfect…
To be witty…
To drive people crazy by being vague…

But lately when I do find the time to sit in front of the computer, my brain just isn't able to come up with things to blog about…
Maybe all the small details in my life right now taking up too much space.
So when my brain is thinking in blog mode, I'm going to try speak to text on my cell phone...
Of course, great new inventions lead to new aggrevations…

When I ramble, sometimes I pause while I am thinking and the stupid speech to text thing-a-ma-boob turns off without me knowing and I lose about 5 minutes of this stream rambling thoughts that is up-chucking out of my mouth. I'm sure that this will lead to a lot of funny hilarious confusion when I sit at the computer and try to translate the speech to text into an actual blog entry, but as I am hoping for some comedy in my life – this may be a success (though in the middle of updating this translation and I’m not sure how funny this is!).

I'm also hoping to get more thoughts back on the blog because I am thinking that journaling / blogging, even the vague nonsense, may help turn some of my stress / anxiety into productive memories to revisit later.
Well see how this works between the pauses and the fact that I tend to talk way faster than the speech to text works…

 Namaste.

Honestly...

I'll be honest...
I forgot about the blog.

Completely.

Even reading other blogs.
Even having ideas for blog posts.

I forgot.

I've been focused on work - it is my group's busiest time of the year.
I've been focused on family - the good and the bad.
I've been focused on myself - photography classes, reading, sleeping, playing pool.

The blog isn't the only thing I forgot about.
Exercise has been gone to.  :(

As work moves out of the busy season, I'm going to put the Blog and the Elliptical on the To Do list.
Wish me luck.

1,000

Have I really had that much to say?
Was any of it worth reading?
Is any of it worth keeping?
Is it worth continuing?

Things that make me go "Hmmmm"...

I'm Trying...

I have been getting all of these great blog topics / pictures / items and they fizzle before I can get them on a computer…
Yes, I know – excuses, excuses.

I have found that I don’t care for the Android Blogger app as much as I liked the iPhoneone, so I tend to shy away from using it.

Our laptop is no more, which is how I used to blog the most.
So, I can only blog during my lunch (which I either don’t get or try to spend getting up and moving) or in MBB’s office.

Yeah, not much blogging going on.

So, I am going to try to figure out how to make the app work better…
And I’m hoping that we get a new laptop soon!

And, now that I think about it, I am hoping to have my craft computer set up soon – which will let me post more about my renewed creative output.

Yeah, I know how excited that makes everyone!

Namaste.
